Showing

We started showing our first two boys Flint and Fel in 1998 and quickly got the bug, helped along by Feldspar getting Best Puppy in Breed at the Midland Counties Championship dog show under breed specialist Tracey Pittock. Our showing career really took off with Fya though (UK/Can Ch. Huskidoo Lesmok Mhofyr of Shaytaan). Fya won consistently through puppy and junior, but we were still very shocked to get our first CC with him at Crufts in 2003 under breed specialist Brunette Greenland. To get a green card at the worlds biggest dog show is a dream for most people, to get it only 5 years into the breed and it to be your first EVER green card is pretty unbelievable! That is a day we will certainly never forget. Fya went on to have a wonderful show career in the UK, gaining CC's from Tracey Pittock, Chris McRae and Sue Blake, as well as numerous RCC's and also winning Reserve Best in Show at the SHGCB Northern Show followed the same year by Best in Show at the SHCGB Southern show. We then retired him from the ring in the UK to concentrate on our first girl Poppy (Penkhala's Poppaea of Shaytaan J.W.) Poppy is an extremely pretty and typey bitch who we are very lucky to own. She also did very well in the UK showring winning RCC's under Sarah Robinson and Julie Baldwin and also qualifying for her Junior Warrant.

Since moving to Canada we haven't shown as much as the judges over here are all all-rounders, but we were thrilled to finish Fya's Canadian Championship in 2006 making him the first and only Siberian UK/CAN Ch. We will continue to show our dogs and have quite a few with Canadian show points, so hopefully the next Champion isn't too far away!

Here are a selection of show results and critiques for some of our dogs. A brief explanation for those of you in the USA/Canada. In order to become a UK champion, a dog has to win three Challenge Certificates under three different judges. To win a CC, a dog has to win either best dog or best bitch at the show. There are no separate champion or specials classes in the UK, so in order to win best dog or bitch you have to beat all the entered Champions too. It's pretty difficult to make up a UK champion! For instance, in winning his first 3 CC's, Fya beat 523 other Siberians.

A very important sounding name for a very special dog. Really outstanding 3 year old. Has really come into his own. Most beautiful looking dog of a glorious red colour. I could not fault him. His naughty mischievous nature, so typical of the breed, sparkled in his eyes, giving his owner a difficult task which she handled well. Head to die for, conformation outstanding. Coat wonderful, movement spot on. I loved him and was delighted to give him his first CC. What more can I say!

1st Veale & Cooke’s Ch. Huskidoo Lesmok Mhofyr of Shaytaan

D red attractive dog in excellent condition of correct size very well constructed looked as if he really wanted to win looked the part. Medium length neck well arched flowing into well laid back shoulders, lovely spring of rib elbows close to the body. Good bend of stifle, cracking top line which held on the move, nice to see a spring in pastern that is lacking in many dogs. Very sound covering the ground effortlessly, light on his feet. Both judges agreed BIS and deservedly so.

A super boy of undoubted quality. Masculine head in balance with size. Lovely eyes, expression and good earset. nicely arched neck. Good strong front with excellent angulation. Excellent upper arm. Well balanced body with correct ratios of height to length. Well angulated behind with correct tail set and carriage. Moved with great reach and drive and freedom of action. really showed no weakness here at all. Moved the best I have seen him go all year. He has matured so much since I last judged him and I'm sure he will go on to gain his crown.

Well balanced, sound on the move with lots of reach and drive, true coming and going. Won over his brother later in the challenge as I just preferred set of shoulders and chest proportions, very close decision, RCC.

Lovely to go over, at first glance he didn't shout out at me and took a while to settle, but is truly a well constructed Siberian, masculine head, fox-like and keen expression, good reach of neck, level topline, moderate bone, well-balanced, plush coat, moved effortlessly with drive and reach, moved well coming and going, looked very well in the group, was pleased to hear this gave him his crown. Not an instant eye catcher this red boy, but the more I looked at him the more he impressed. Has such lovely angles which allowed him to move so correctly and easily deserved his RCC.
